a. Our films are Computer-cut! i-Tint does NOT hand-cut film on your vehicle unless the software does not provide a cut-out for older vehicles or a windshield.
b. After window film templates are cut. A water and baby shampoo solution is sprayed on the outside of the windows and each sheet of film is laid over its’ corresponding window. Spraying this solution holds the film in place while the film is molded using a heat gun. When referring to “molding” we mean, heat is applied to the film and “shrunk” to take the curve of the window. During this step, the outside of the car does get wet.
c. The following step applies to the inside of the doors. After window film templates are molded, they are ready for installation. The window gaskets will be taped off to keep dirt and/or felt from leaking in. Then the windows will be thoroughly cleaned using a water and baby shampoo solution. NO CHEMICALS ARE USED DURING INSTALLATION. This solution allows the film to move freely during the installation, keeping the adhesive from binding to the window too soon. Once the film is adjusted appropriately on the inside of the window, a squeegee is used to press out the solution build up in between the glass and the film.
d. Finally, the windows (inside and out), door panels, and any area of the interior and/or exterior of the car that may have gotten wet, are wiped down of any water residue using clean microfiber towels.
4-5 days before windows should be rolled down. Drying takes 4-5 days in the summer with adequate sun exposure and up to 15 days in winter.
The tools used during installation are made of a really soft plastic and/or rubber to ensure that no damage will occur to the windows and the film during installation.
